Open Dialogue
January 6, 2012
Thought a lot about this entry and what I wanted to say.
In the last couple of months or so the issue of the sexual abuse of children has come to the fore. Read at least 2 or 3 articles a week in the papers on sexual abuse or paedophilia. Mostly good info. And the idea of open dialogue (that I brought up in one of my first blogs) will make it more difficult for offenders to get away with abuse for long. Am proud of these young men who have come forward in their efforts to stop someone else from getting hurt and to prevent their perpetrators from escaping the consequences of their actions.
As far as one of the suspects, Sandusky, goes I for one, did not appreciate him going on TV and denying what he did. There is a difference in pleading not guilty in an effort to either make the system work or to try and obtain the best result that you can get. But to go on TV and call these young men liars and worst and to show the world your arrogance… Well that kind of made me mad. I mean, I know, in my heart, that he is guilty. The reason it pissed me off is because I am working so hard to find some middle ground between you (society) and I as a sex-offender who is repentant, and what he has done in such a high profile case is to make a mockery of what I am trying to accomplish. I have no doubt that he will and should come to prison. The only thing he should be worried about is protecting his family and these boys that he hurt from the further detrimental effects of his perfidy. He owes them, big time.
